New board member appointed to Utah Transit Authority

Utah Speaker of the House Rebecca Lockhart has appointed Draper City Councilman Troy Walker to the board of trustees of the Utah Transit Authority. He replaces outgoing trustee Terry Diehl.

Walker has been a member of the Draper council since 2007 and is a private attorney and commercial pilot.

“I believe Mr. Walker will be both a positive influence on the Board of Trustees and a valuable and effective member,” Lockhart said.

Walker will serve the remainder of Diehl’s term, which will expire Dec. 30, 2012.

The UTA Board of Trustees is a 15-member appointed body that sets policy and provides overall guidance for UTA. Cities, groups of cities, and counties that support UTA with a local option sales tax appoint 11 members to the board, with the number of seats determined by population and the proportion of tax revenue collected in that area.
