Mid-morning Buzz: January 31, 2013

Welcome to Day 4. Here’s a quick look back, and what’s upcoming today. Just 41 more, so hurry and get it while you can.

First, go take a look at our new feature, Lege 101. It will teach you everything you need to know about how the Legislature works. We’ll be updating it throughout the Session, so continue to check back to find out all you could ever want to know.

Make sure to tune in to our live Google+ hangout with the Speaker and other members of leadership, beginning at 1:45. Don’t have Google+? No problem. You can stream it over YouTube. Not nearly as obscure as you thought, huh?

Several interesting bills went through committees yesterday, and we turn to our Utah reporters to tell us about some of them.

Bill would help Utah veterans get college credit – Salt Lake Tribune staff

Dixie State University bill clears House committee – Benjamin Wood, Deseret News

In addition, Representative and Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lee Perry (R – Perry), asked the House to honor fallen UHP Trooper Aaron Beesley on Wednesday. You can watch the House ceremony here.

Today, we’re up on the Floor and in a few committees. Check out the 3rd Reading Calendar for a list of bills.
