The Buzz: March 8, 2013

We’re less than a week from the end of the 2013 Session. Also, it’s almost the weekend! Can you feel the impending sleep?

Today, we have a press conference regarding HB391, which would prohibit the state from expanding Medicaid services. We’ll have a wrap-up afterwards. Here’s the press release

We had some great bills and debates on the floor yesterday. Rep. Hughes’ bill, HB393, which would start the process of increasing the availability of competency-based courses. This would allow those students who show proper competency, to test out of classes. The bill passed 43-26. Listen to the debate.

The budget isn’t over until it’s over. Here’s some information about it from Robert Gehrke.

Our standing committees are done for the Session. It’s now just floor time, and the occasional Executive Appropriations from here on out.

Today, we’re honoring the number one high school basketball team in the nation. At 11 AM, Rep. Kennedy and the House will issue a citation to the Lone Peak High basketball team on their outstanding achievements.
