In addition to the many committees meeting today, it was also Film Day on the Hill. A variety of talented companies joined us, from Sundance Institute to Arrowstorm Entertainment.

H.B. 11 Passes the House

Representative Norm Thurston is sponsoring H.B. 11: State Board and Commission Amendments. This bill removes the political party affiliation requirement for local boards, as well as specific board appointments in an effort to enable more qualified people to participate. After debate on the House floor, two amendments were passed.

The amendments retained the partisan requirements for five high-profile boards and banned asking those appointed to all boards their political affiliation. H.B. 11 passed the House today with 51 “yay” votes and 21 “nay” votes, with 3 abstentions.
