House Rules Committee: Bears Ears National Monument Designation

Speaker Greg Hughes introduced his concurrent resolution, H.C.R. 11urging the President to rescind the Bears Ears National Monument Designation earlier this afternoon in the House Rules Committee. He explained that the national monument wholly ignored the needs of the people in San Juan County. Bears Ears also has a real negative economic impact on San Juan County, one of the poorest counties in the state.

San Juan County Commissioner Rebecca Benally and Bruce Adams both spoke to share their support for the concurrent resolution and with Speaker Hughes. The concurrent resolution successfully passed through the House Rules Committee with a vote of 6 – 2.
