UT House of Reps news updates

* The 2011 Redistricting Committee is coming to West Jordan on July 12th, that’s tomorrow folks. We will be at the Jordan School District Auxiliary Services Bldg, which is located at 7905 S. Redwood Rd. The meeting begins at 6 PM. REDISTRICTUTAH.COM

* UT House member Rep. Carl Wimmer (R-Herriman) has declared his candidacy to run for US Congress, possibly the new 4th Congressional district (which has yet to be drawn). SLTRIB

* Rep. Johnny Anderson (R-Taylorsville) has opened a bill file and plans to sponsor a bill similar to “Caylee’s law” in Florida, which makes it a felony for failure to report a missing or deceased child within a 48-hour period. HERALD

* A third special session has been planned for 2011, from the STANDARD-EXAMINER

The agenda of the session is expected to include a clarification of conflict of interest rules for members of Utah’s liquor commission, a look at the process used to evaluate the performance of justice court judges, a revamp of proposed changes to health insurance rates, the federal balanced budget Cut, Cap and Balance amendment pledge signed by Herbert last week, and a possible change in the way the committee is selected to study the relocation of the State Prison currently located in Draper.
